2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Blue 3.8l Black Interior

Formed in South Korea in 1967, it wasn't until 1986 that Hyundai found its way into the United States. Courtesy of the Hyundai Excel, it was a huge entry with sales totaling 168,882 units – a record for the first year of business in America. However, the success and the euphoria were short-lived as the Excel became notorious for being chronically unreliable, thereby affecting the company's reputation.

Hyundai has since fixed its broken reputation, and it's currently making audacious automotive fabrication moves, such as the production of the Hyundai-Uber S-A1 air taxi. Nonetheless, the damage control has been launched for quite a while and several models have played roles in changing the world's perception of Hyundai. The Genesis Coupe is one of such models, and it remains a highly sought-after sports car.

It got more interesting in 2013 with the 2.0T getting upgraded for an output of 274 horses. However, prospective buyers should also look out for the post-2013 3.8 L which produces an incredible 348 horsepower.

Produced from 2013 to 2016, the second variation of the 3.8 Lambda II RS with the Gasoline Direct Injection fuel system is the most prolific of the engines; when mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, the car goes from rest to 62.14 mph in 6.1 seconds, but with an 8-speed automatic, it achieved the same feat in 5.9 seconds, while both boasts of a top speed of 162 mph.

On the highway, both have a consumption rate of 30 mpg. Also, at 16 mpg, the least fuel-efficient coupes are the 2013 to 2016 models powered by the 3.8 Lambda II RS engine mated with the 8-speed automatic.
